Oh dolling

Pictures by glamcanyon. These photos look like they were ripped from the pages of a magazine, stunning and perfectly styled. I love how the girls look like futuristic dolls, with their dark lips and teased hair coinciding perfectly with their edgy, metallic dress.

I wish I could do crazy make-up like this all the time..I would love it :) I guess cosmetology has always kind of been in the back of my mind..but I'll just have to stick with journalism, photography and music for now!

A Poem

Another Birth-Forough Farrokhzad
Translations by Ismā'il Salāmi

My entire soul is a murky verse
Reiterating you within itself
Carrying you to the dawn of eternal burstings and blossomings
In this verse, I sighed you, AH!
In this verse,
I grafted you to trees, water and fire

Perhaps life is
A long street along which a woman
With a basket passes every day
Perhaps life
Is a rope with which a man hangs himself from a branch
Perhaps life is a child returning home from school
Perhaps life is the lighting of a cigarette
Between the lethargic intervals of two lovemakings
Or the puzzled passage of a passerby
Tipping his hat
Saying good morning to another passerby with a vacant smile

Perhaps life is that blocked moment
When my look destroys itself in the pupils of your eyes
And in this there is a sense
Which I will mingle with the perception of the moon
And the reception of darkness

In a room the size of one solitude
My heart
The size of one love
Looks at the simple pretexts of its own happiness,

At the pretty withering of flowers in the flower pots
At the sapling you planted in our flowerbed
At the songs of the canaries
Who sing the size of one window.

Ah
This is my lot
This is my lot
My lot
Is a sky, which the dropping of a curtain seizes from me
My lot is going down an abandoned stairway
And joining with something in decay and nostalgia
My lot is a cheerless walk in the garden of memories
And dying in the sorrow of a voice that tells me:
"I love
Your hands"

I will plant my hands in the flowerbed
I will sprout, I know, I know, I know
And the sparrows will lay eggs
In the hollows of my inky fingers
I will hang a pair of earrings of red twin cherries
Round my ears
I will put dahlia petals on my nails
There is an alley
Where the boys who were once in love with me,
With those disheveled hairs, thin necks and gaunt legs
Still think of the innocent smiles of a little girl
Who was one night blown away by the wind
There is an alley which my heart
Has stolen from places of my childhood

The journey of a volume along the line of time
And impregnating the barren line of time with a volume
A volume conscious of an image
Returning from the feast of a mirror

This is the way
Someone dies
And someone remains
No fisherman will catch pearls
From a little stream flowing into a ditch

I
Know a sad little mermaid
Dwelling in the ocean
Softly, gently blowing
Her heart into a wooden flute
A sad little mermaid
Who dies with a kiss at night
And is born again with another kiss at dawn

My friend, May, sent this poem to me a while back. I always find myself returning to it every now and then, and it's still as beautiful as the first time I read it.

Smells like teen spirit

'90s chic. From stockholmstreetstyle. I never thought light-wash jeans with a matching cropped jacket could work..

Working on some designs for my friend and listening to Metric. I ordered the book, The Girl With Curious Hair, today, and I'm so excited to read it. Tomorrow Olivia and I are starting our detox/cleanse. Should be interesting..I can't believe I'm actually giving up chocolate for 10 days. Ahhh!

Munda(y)ne

(Free People hat, UO scarf and plaid tights, UO Madonna tee and jumper, H&M belt, Free People socks, Blowfish shoes, assorted vintage and costume jewelry)

Ugh, I do not want to wake up at 7 tomorrow. Having class at 8 really does suck, especially in the wintertime. Getting out of bed in the morning has to be the most difficult thing in the entire world..has to be.

Fall asleep listening to Jimmy Eat World's album, Clarity. It's perfect.

Leather feather

Loving all of these from Free People. Speaking of which, my roommate, Olivia, is applying there. She was telling me about the application and apparently they ask some pretty interesting questions like, "Which person do you think embodies Free People?" and "What are some of your favorite bands?" I don't know, I just think it's cool when a workplace takes some interest in your personality when it seems like most people could care less these days.

Well, keep your fingers crossed for her! cause you know I need that discount ;)

Tailor-ripped

Fashion week photos from thecobrasnake.

Just a look at some of the shoes that graced the runway. I love the jazzed-up motorcycle boot with all the buckles. It's the perfect mix of grunge and high-fashion, and the same goes for all the pants. As for the heels, I think they're a beautiful twist on vintage haute couture, while still embracing the recent sky-high-heel trend. And the Louis' are just fantastic, I love the colors :)

I can't believe how fast this weekend went by..it seems absurd. Well, happy Monday?!
